We are all connected to the ancient primal forces that live in expressions of creativity. Our wines are inspired by the simple beauty of nature and
the opportunity that it holds. Go where your inspiration takes you. Go with the wind.
Marc Pistor is an experienced winemaker and educator based in Ontario’s Niagara Region.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. Marc is also an instructor at Brock University and created and currently moderate the course focusing on Ontario Wines through the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute’s Continuing Education program. After spending 13 years working for a large Canadian winemaking company in various wine retail and winemaking roles, Marc left and join Alvento Winery. In his winemaking, Marc and the proprietor bring their passion and expertise and seeks to tell the story of local wine through the unique terroir of the property.
Classic premium winemaking grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Nebbiolo, and Viognier are grown in light sandy soils that warm early and easily in spring and the heavier soils of red clay loam which provides thick and fertile pockets with high water-holding capacity. This unique combination of earth and climate are what make Alvento wines anything but ordinary.
INSPIRED BY THE WIND
When creating the labels for our WIND series wines, we wanted to highlight the transformation of something new from something that was once perceived as traditional. We chose to share this story through stylized fantasy artwork, giving physical form to our everyday inspirations. Our WIND series features four Wind Goddesses that represent different cardinal directions and natural domains. Each label joins together to create one large illustration. They are designed to be aromatic and refreshing – just like the wind itself.
