Alvento Winery is located in Vineland, adjacent to Lake Ontario. Founded in 2001, the 13.4 acre vineyard on the waterfront is now reaching optimal production for winemaking. Small batch wines are crafted from established vines that offer quality fruit with subtle complexities.

Our vineyard’s terroir is composed of light sandy soils that warm easily, and of red clay loam which provide fertility and better water holding capacity. The proximity to the Jordan Harbour and Lake Ontario allow their warm winds to moderate the temperature and humidity in the vineyard. It’s long and gentle slopes, as well as its north facing trellis system provides uninterrupted sunshine throughout the day. These conditions once grew classic wine making grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Nebbiolo, and Viognier. Since the historic ice storm of 2014, the vineyard now contains ample acres of Vidal, Baco Noir, and Marquette.
